Meridian Water is a significant 85-hectare regeneration programme by the London Borough of Enfield. Child Graddon Lewis has worked collaboratively within a wider team of engineers, designers and consultants to create a new town with 10,000 homes and 6,700 jobs on a brownfield site next to the River Lee on the North London located site.
Outlined as a diligently phased 20 year programme, this project was tendered as an international OJEU competition and has been labelled as one of the largest masterplan projects in the country. Currently within the first phase of works entitled ‘Zone 1’, the ambition and strategy for the masterplan is to not only create new homes and jobs within Enfield but to further deliver new public open spaces alongside retail and community facilities. The site will also play home to a new railway station, established and operated by Network Rail.
As part of the masterplan team, Child Graddon Lewis has played an integral role in developing the placemaking strategy for key areas across the full masterplan, coordinating the delivery of Enfield Council’s aspirations and creating proposals for a new heart of the scheme – critical in transforming Meridian Water into a compelling place to live, work, socialise, shop and revisit.
